Clear Aligners

We offer clear aligners as a discreet and convenient way to improve tooth alignment and address certain bite concerns. These removable trays are custom-made to fit comfortably over your teeth while applying controlled pressure to guide them into their planned positions. Their nearly transparent appearance makes them a popular option for teens and adults who want a less noticeable approach to orthodontic care.

What Are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligner treatment uses a series of customized trays created from digital scans or impressions of your teeth. Each set is designed to make small, precise movements based on the treatment plan we create for your smile.

You will change to a new set of aligners according to our instructions and visit our office periodically so we can evaluate your progress. The trays are generally removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, but they must be worn consistently throughout the day and night to keep treatment moving forward.

The length of treatment depends on the complexity of your case, the amount of tooth movement needed, and how closely you follow the recommended wear schedule.

What Can Clear Aligners Correct?

We may recommend clear aligners for mild to moderate orthodontic concerns, including crowded teeth, gaps, crooked teeth, and certain overbites, underbites, or crossbites. They may also be suitable if your teeth have shifted after previous orthodontic treatment.

Before recommending treatment, we will examine your teeth, gums, bite, jaw relationships, and overall oral health. Any tooth decay, gum disease, or other dental concerns may need to be addressed before treatment begins.

Benefits of Clear Aligner Treatment

Clear aligners offer several advantages, including:

  • A discreet appearance during treatment

  • Removable trays for eating, brushing, and flossing

  • No dietary restrictions when the trays are removed

  • Smooth material without metal brackets or wires

  • A personalized plan based on your smile and bite

  • Digital planning that helps map your expected tooth movement

What to Expect During Treatment

Your treatment begins with a comprehensive dental examination and digital records, which may include photographs, scans, and X-rays. We use this information to assess your bite and develop a personalized treatment plan.

You may experience mild pressure or tenderness when beginning a new set of trays, which is a normal sign that the teeth are moving. During follow-up appointments, we will monitor your alignment, evaluate how the trays fit, and make adjustments when necessary. Wearing your aligners as directed and keeping your scheduled appointments are important for achieving predictable results.

Caring for Your Clear Aligners

We will provide instructions for cleaning and storing your aligners. The trays should be placed in their protective case when not in use and kept away from heat, which can distort the material.

Brush and floss before placing the aligners back over your teeth to help prevent trapped food, plaque buildup, and staining. We also recommend continuing routine dental exams and professional cleanings throughout treatment.

After active treatment is complete, we will typically provide a retainer to help maintain your new tooth positions. Wearing it as directed helps protect your results and reduce unwanted shifting.
